Flowcrete UK Presents Resin Floors to Scotland’s Public Sector Procurement Experts

At Procurex Scotland Live 2014 Flowcrete UK will be demonstrating to public sector decision makers why its range of specialist resin floors has been embraced by locations across the country.

Scotland’s biggest public sector procurement event will be taking place on 21stOctober at Glasgow’s Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre. It will see buyers and suppliers come together to help formulate procurement strategies that take into account the very latest procedures, technologies and ideas.

Chief executives, department heads and policy makers will be attending from a diverse assortment of fields, including local and central government, healthcare, education and the emergency services. The one-day event will also include the Scottish Government Tenth National Public Procurement Conference, where representatives responsible for managing the £10 billion per year national public procurement expenditure will meet.

The Cheshire based flooring manufacturer Flowcrete UK has a long history of working with public sector bodies and is able to bring this expertise to bear on new build developments and refurbishment projects regardless of scale, scope, conditions or challenges.

The diverse variety of Flowcrete UK’s adaptable and customisable screeds and resin flooring systems means that it is able to supply floors tailored to the individual demands of each site.

For example fire service facilities across Scotland, including the Fire Service HQ in Hamilton as well as four fire stations in Edinburgh and the fire station and training centre at Edinburgh Airport, have been finding out how Flowcrete’s hard-wearing and resilient floors can withstand the frequent water exposure and movement of heavy fire appliances that these locations have to deal with everyday.

At the other end of the public sector spectrum, the National Museum of Scotland and the Battle of Bannockburn Visitor’s Centre were supplied with decorative solutions that combine the resilience and abrasion resistance of resinous floors with high-end appearances, to create surfaces that maintain an attractive finish in the face of heavy footfall, continuous use and daily cleaning.

The effectiveness of Flowcrete’s floors to be both aesthetically pleasing and durable was exemplified when two key areas of the landmark SSE Hydro Arena installed its solutions. 8,500 m2of the fast curing, methyl methacrylate system Flowfast Quartz was applied within the Main Bowl Arena and the seamless terrazzo system Mondéco Classic was installed in the VIP bar area.

The architectural excellence of both the Battle of Bannockburn Visitor’s Centre and the SSE Hydro was recognised at the 2014 Scottish Design Awards.  The architects behind the commemorative Bannockburn building, Reiach & Hall, won the event’s Architectural Practise of the Year thanks in large part to this project and the Chairman’s Award for Architecture was presented to Foster & Partners for Glasgow’s newest entertainment arena.

The decorative and low maintenance yet hygienic and easy-to-clean nature of Flowcrete UK’s floors also means that they have been utilised by education establishments in Scotland, including Ellon Academy and Park Mains School.

The sanitary advantages of a gap-free and reliable floor are a useful asset within healthcare environments. The Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre combined the performance enhanced Isocrete K-Screed with Flowcrete’s innovative underfloor heating system Isowarm to achieve a robust floor that simultaneously provides efficiency savings of up to 30% compared to traditional heating methods.

The New South Glasgow Hospitals development applied Flowcrete’s flooring expertise in a different way, installing the car park protection system Deckshield in its parking facility. This polyurethane deck coating system has a highly accredited fire rating and its wide range of attractive colour options can be combined with clear and customisable signage to create an attractive car park interior.

Stand 71 of Procurex Scotland Live 2014 will be where the public sector’s procurement experts can find out more about Flowcrete UK’s flooring solutions and how they can optimise the aesthetics, functionality, safety and hygiene within a wide range of environments.
