HOMEOWNER STEPS UP WITH CEDRAL LAP WEATHERBOARD

A property owner in Bognor Regis successfully transformed the appearance of his home with the help of Marley Eternit’s Cedral Lap weatherboard.

Being as quick and easy to install as timber meant that Cedral Lap weatherboard was installed in just a weekend, minimising time and labour costs.

The existing painted cement render finish was creating a considerable maintenance burden for Mr Fish because of frequent discolouration caused by rainwater run-off, wind-blown dirt and mould growth. In addition, the cement substrate required regular remedial work where it had cracked around vulnerable areas such as the roofline.

After looking at a number of options to overcome the issue of regular high maintenance, the owner selected Cedral Lap weatherboard because, apart from it being hassle free, its subtly textured surface echoes the aesthetic characteristic of timber

“I chose Cedral Lap as it is a substantial material and looked extremely good in comparison to plastic-based boarding”, said Mr Fish.

The Cedral Lap cladding was fixed on all sides of the property in a ‘ship lap’ style above a height of two metres. Mr Fish added: “Now any painting of the rendered facade is at the lower levels and can now be done safely off household steps!”

Homeowners who upgrade the exterior of their property with Cedral weatherboard can choose from a palette of twenty one colours and two woodstain finishes.

Mr Fish and his family selected Blue Grey Cedral Lap because of its contemporary yet subtle appearance and the fact it complemented other external colours used on the property.

“We are delighted with the look of our home and the fact that we no longer have to clamber up and down ladders to repaint the exterior walls,” said Derek Fish, the owner. “Cedral Lap has dramatically improved the appearance of our home and it was well worth the time and effort spent on the project.”

The Cedral weatherboard range comprises of Cedral Lap and Cedral Click, the UK’s first and only fibre cement tongue and groove cladding board.

As easy to work as timber but with the durability of cement based products, Cedral weatherboard has good resistance to fire and is dimensionally stable. It is very easy to install and the boards can be mounted rigidly with no requirement for expansion joints.

A full range of aluminium profiles are available in complementary colours, for both Cedral Lap and Click, which provides a complete cladding solution.

Cedral Board, an impact resistant, durable and flat board is ideal for soffits and fascias and is available in 9 colours in the Cedral range.

For homeowners looking to reduce their environmental footprint, Cedral weatherboard achieves an A+ rating in the BRE (Building Research Establishment) Green Guide to Specification based on generic rating: Cedral weatherboard – autoclaved fibre cement (calcium silicate) cladding – (Element Ref: 806220701, 806220675, 806220676).
