Transformation to create Hull city centre’s first multi-space complex

Transformation to create Hull city centre’s first multi-space complex

One of Hull city centre’s iconic commercial properties is set to be transformed into a pioneering multi-functional living and workspace complex, as part of a significant £6m investment.

Kingston House, in Bond Street, will be the new home of K2, the city’s first multi-space concept of its kind, which will incorporate flexible office and co-working space, 14 luxury serviced apartments and a 100-bed hotel. K2 will house retail and leisure space, with plans to include a restaurant, gym, bar and a café with rooftop terrace.

The 90,000sq ft site is being redeveloped by Yorkshire-based firm Tradepark Ltd, which purchased Kingston House via NPS in August. Work will begin via principal contractors MLS Group on the development this week, with the first office space ready in November. The first serviced apartments will be available from January 2018.

Tradepark has already appointed full-time staff to manage the new multi-space community and has several tenants lined up to take space at K2.

Mark Butters, Director at Tradepark Ltd, comments:

“K2 will be a revolutionary building, designed for a thriving, modern city. It will bring businesses, creative professionals, residents and visitors together in what will be the first concept of its kind in Hull city centre.

“The complex has been inspired by contemporary, flexible co-working spaces, serviced offices and apartments in the trendy neighbourhoods of New York and East London, which we believe will attract organisations and enterprising individuals alike.

“Kingston House is an iconic Hull building thanks to its modernist style and being one of the highest tower blocks in the city centre. But it has dated since its heyday in the 1960s. We are bringing the building into the future and creating a bold, multi-space complex where people can work, play, shop, eat and stay at the heart of a regenerated city.”

Councillor Martin Mancey, Portfolio Holder for regeneration, investment and planning at Hull City Council, said:

“We are delighted to see major investment into this prime city centre site, providing a new fantastic offer for businesses, residents and visitors to the city, not only boosting the local economy of the city as a whole, but also stimulating the evening economy of the city centre.

“Kingston House is ripe for investment and I would like to congratulate Tradepark Ltd on their vision for the future of this well-known building.

“Alongside the council’s £100m capital investment into the regeneration of the city centre, it is really encouraging to see businesses like Tradepark contributing the re-birth of Hull with major investments like this.

“I look forward to seeing work start on site and the finished product in the coming months.”
