Many of us are doing our best to reduce our carbon footprint, whether it’s carpooling, increasing how much we recycle – or carefully selecting a new stove or fire. Stovax wood burning products are designed to burn as cleanly and efficiently as possible, so you can trust that you are heating your home with one of the most eco-friendly stoves or fires available.

Why wood burning stoves and fires are better for our environment

As a heat source, wood is generally appreciated as costing less than gas and electricity per kW, making the modern wood burning stove or fire an attractive option for homeowners. Aside from offering a beautiful focal point to your living space, they are also considered an effective way of heating your home as well as being environmentally friendly. The benefits of wood burning are gaining wider and wider support; as a virtually carbon neutral fuel, burning this renewable resource releases approximately the same amount of carbon dioxide as was absorbed by the tree during its growth.

Stovax recommends that logs should be seasoned for two years or more to achieve a moisture content below 20%, otherwise some of the heat when burning is wasted on boiling the water in the wood instead of generating warmth. To achieve outstanding efficiency, most of the Stovax wood burners incorporate Cleanburn combustion systems which can greatly increase the combustion efficiency of your wood burning stove and dramatically reduce the amount of unburnt particles going up the chimney. The Studio Wood Burning Fires, for example, not only add a striking feature to your living space but also provide superb flame visuals and superior heating efficiencies.

Ecodesign Ready stoves and fires

Stovax is continuously working towards a greener future. Already focused on eco-friendly products, Stovax also manufactures a host of stoves and fires that are already compliant with Ecodesign regulations ahead of 2022, when the European-wide programme will be put into effect in the UK. Working with the Stove Industry Alliance (SIA), Stovax have launched a number of stoves and fires that bear the Ecodesign Ready label, showing you that the product you have chosen meets these future emission limits.

The Vogue Small Wood Burning Stove, for example, offers a considerable heat output while burning so cleanly that emissions are lowered even below Ecodesign levels. Likewise, the Elise Evoke Steel Wood Burning Inset Fire is Ecodesign compliant, whilst also creating a sophisticated statement with beautiful rolling flames – a clean, contemporary fire at the pinnacle of clean burning performance.

Installing Ecodesign compliant stoves or fires such as these give you peace of mind that your product is as environmentally-friendly as possible – ahead of schedule.
