CTS BRIDGES – HELPING HOUSE BUILDERS AND DEVELOPERS IMPROVE ENVIRONMENTS

CTS Bridges

CTS Bridges are helping house builders and developers meet their planning obligations by providing bridges and boardwalks towards the provision of additional infrastructure to serve their developments.

House builders are often required to create green spaces to enhance their developments as part of a Section 106 agreement with the Local Authority and our footbridges have been used to provide access to these areas for residents and the public to enjoy.

Sometimes balancing ponds are required on the site to alleviate flood risks and CTS have supplied structures such as viewing platforms, fishing platforms and boardwalks to make these features into a useful and peaceful place to enjoy.

Taylor Wimpey – Newton Leys

7A recent scheme at a housing development at Newton Leys Nr Milton Keynes included 12 footbridges and a boardwalk for Taylor Wimpey.

The twelve bridges were located over ditches and swales around the site to create a footpath and cycle route which take in the enhanced green space and ponds.

Barratt Homes – Strensall, York

8CTS Bridges have worked on various Barratt Homes sites around the UK and in May 2014 completed this this 48m overall length x 3m wide 3 span bridge at The Tannery, Strensall, York.

This slender footbridge blends in with the surrounding landscape with its minimal tensioned stainless steel wire parapet.

It was a provision when buying the land that safe access was provided by Barratt Homes for the residents away from the busy road bridge.

Buckingham Group Ltd – Wixams

Low level boardwalk

Buckingham Group Ltd on behalf of their client Gallagher UK commissioned CTS Bridges to supply various structures including 5 timber bridges, 3 timber jetties, numerous walkways and a 91m long boardwalk on the development to create a new Greenway and leisure area around a new man-made water feature.

91m long boardwalk

On this scheme the challenge was to work with the Landscape Architects original designs whilst maintaining the original aesthetics, deliver an affordable scheme for the client and one that met the exacting design standard required for the adopting Authority, Bedfordshire CC.

3 No fishing platforms

We have also provided large steel structures to other developments where private flats, apartments or student accommodation has been built. These bridges are to provide better access for the increased traffic created by the new accommodation. A sample of these bridges is shown below:

30.5m steel beam and parapet bridge At Snow Island Student Accommodation, Huddersfield

43m Tubular truss bridge for Norwest Holst at King Edwards Wharf Apartments, Browning Street, Birmingham

Cable Stay Footbridge at Southbridge, Northampton for Jackson Civil Eng.

40m x 2m bow truss bridge with splayed Butterfly arch at Smithfield over the River Don, Sheffield

We are currently manufacturing bridges and boardwalks for the following house builders:
Weston Homes, Persimmon Homes, David Wilson Homes, Bloor Homes, Miller Homes.
