PPC Refurbishes Uni Concrete

PPC Refurbishes Uni Concrete

The Preparation Group’s contracting division PPC, was contracted to polish a 40 metre concrete slab that was uneven and pitted, in the reception of a Lincoln University building. Unusually, the specification was to show the nature of the concrete rather than reducing it down to reveal an even aggregate.

The first stage was to remove the high spots some of which were 18mm using the 250 Grinder, followed by grinding the area flat and smooth with the Terrco 701-S.

The polishing process was completed with the STG450 multi-tasking machine, fitted firstly with Surface Finishing Diamond Pads (SFD’s), working up the grades from 100 to the finest 800 and then Storm Diamond Pads to create the final sheen, polishing the floor with just water.

Maintaining hard floors

For heavily trafficked and worn hard surfaces that have become scratched, stained and contaminated The Preparation Group recommends the STG450, for total floor refurbishment and deep restorative cleaning.

The STG450 is a surface texturing and grinding machine that is easily adapted for multi-functional use without the need for tools by interchanging accessories and plates, from metal drive plates to diamond cleaning pads. It is operated with a simple lever and a dust control skirt minimises dust pollution when fitted to a vacuum unit. It can be used wet, with an optional water tank, or dry and presents a low-cost option with virtually no maintenance and high levels of productivity.

STG450

When fitted with the correct accessories, just some of the STG450’s applications include; grinding and smoothing concrete, removing coatings, cleaning and polishing terrazzo, removing adhesives and sanding wooden floors. Surface Finishing Diamond Pads (SFD’s) and double sided Storm Diamond Pads are two accessories that also offer sustainable methods for refurbishment and cleaning, creating a hygienic, shiny, yet non-slip floor on hard floors by adding just water. Along with the STG450 there are also sizes to fit standard rotary cleaners, auto scrubbers and polishing machines.
