Wren kitchens driving further success with transport awards

MAKING TRACKS: Wren’s new Mercedes-Benz Antos lorries packed full of innovative safety features.

The UK’s number 1 kitchen retailer – Wren Kitchens – has been recognised for its safe and innovative transport operations by being shortlisted for four awards at the renowned Motor Transport Awards 2019.

The judging panel made up of leading transport figures shortlisted Wren for:

  • Home Delivery Operator of the Year
  • Operational Excellence
  • Safety in Operation
  • Technical Excellence Award

Wren employs over 4,400 staff and owns its complete supply chain delivering kitchens from its factories across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire in its own fleet of 150 lorries.

Wren delivers more than 70,000 kitchens each year direct to customers’ homes and 99.95% of deliveries are in full and on time.

Wren Manufacturing and Logistics Director, Rafal Klimek, said: “Not only is it our mission to design and manufacture affordable dream kitchens, we are passionate about efficiency, safety and standards of the highest level in the delivery of our products.

“Our policy of keeping everything in-house including our 400-strong logistics team drives our successes and enables maximum control for continuous improvement.

“We’re proud and grateful to every member of the Wren family that continues to work tirelessly towards our future and it’s fantastic that we’ve been recognised for this – all the best of luck to our contenders!”

Wren is continually improving in all aspects of its logistics operations and one example includes the recent investment in new Mercedes-Benz Antos lorries.

These state-of-the-art trucks are packed full of innovative safety features, as well as the ability to support the environment by reducing fuel emissions and optimising fuel-efficiency.

Wren predicts to save £1 million per year in fuel thanks to this greener initiative.

The leading kitchen retailer is up against some top contenders including DPD UK, Balfour Beatty and Hermes. The Motor Transport Awards have been seen as a benchmark for over 30 years among UK road transport fleet operators, vehicle manufacturers and other innovators.

Winners will be announced at the glamorous ceremony on Wednesday, 3rd July at Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
