Renovating skills, tools and knowledge at UK Construction Week

Stagnant property prices, the UK’s economic uncertainty and worries about the risk of increasing interest rates are reportedly causing home owners to stay put, driving a rise in the renovation market.

But with public scrutiny now also on home energy efficiency, fire safety and building security, it is essential that refurbishment architects, builders and specialist trades professionals rejuvenate their own knowledge to stay competitive.

This year’s UK Construction Week (UKCW) provides access to the latest innovations, thinking and trends shaping the construction industry between 9 – 11 October.

Unmissable product launches

Leading exhibitors will take part in UKCW’s nine shows: Build Show, Energy 2018, Timber Expo, Building Tech Live, Surface & Materials Show, HVAC 2018, Civils Expo, Plant and Machinery Live, and Grand Designs Live – with unique solutions, new products and exclusive launches.

This includes: ONLEVEL’s latest rival to its popular SKYFORCE Juliet balcony and Kedel’s low carbon construction accessories. Top tips are available from ANS Global on living walls, Heacol on ground source heat pumps and Salto Systems will be giving demonstrations of their range of security products.

The most innovative products shaping the future of construction will be showcased via the Innovation Trail. Featured companies include: Bruag, Fibo UK, Fischer Fixings, Quinn Building Products, Rawlplug, Rockwool, Soudal, Soyang Europe Ltd, Styrene Packaging & Insulation and Velux.

Nathan Garnett, UKCW event director, says:

“UKCW consists of three days brimming with the latest products, innovations and developments across the sector both within the UK and internationally.

“That’s why UKCW is always an unmissable event, providing much-needed opportunity to be inspired and encouraged, to make deals, and to take away lots of new ideas and products to apply straight away.”

Other exhibitors include: Aurora Lighting, Hikoki, Kingspan, Knauf, Magnum Heating, Steico, Tradepoint (B&Q), and Velfac.

Talks, CPD and celebration

Industry experts and commentators will take to the UKCW stage as part of the industry’s largest programme of talks, including:

  • The Digital Future of Construction;
  • Disrupting the Industry Delivery Models; and
  • Top Innovations in Construction.

Leading industry organisations will deliver free CPD sessions including: An Introduction to Passivhaus: Design Considerations.

This year also features the Role Models Campaign. 37 inspiring men and women have been shortlisted for Role Model of the Year, with the winner announced on 10 October.

Other highlights

Other highlights include the Beer Festival, the Regeneration Hub sponsored by Easy-Trim, the GOOEE Theatre showcasing its award-winning Internet of Things ecosystem and the REA Theatre focusing on renewable energy.

UK Construction Week is the UK’s largest gathering of construction professionals, with an anticipated 35,000 visitors this year.

Free visitor tickets are available at www.ukconstructionweek.com, where the latest show information can also be found.
